La La Land
I can’t see how any actor wouldn’t be absolutely infatuated with this story, with this movie. la la land is an ode to hollywood, an ode to theatrics, an ode to dreams. i remember the first time i watched this i wasn’t really into film like i am now, i was still in an acting class and film and acting was my i guess ~dream~ but at that point it was kind of a fading fascination. i remember watching it and just being completely enlivened. it really jolted my passion for theatre and film and acting — all of it. it was the first time i’d actually seen the audition process portrayed in a film, and a movie portraying that kind of a meta experience was what i needed needed to be inspired. not to mention that the saturated jazzy mixture of 20s and 50s aesthetics was something that struck my heartstrings. upon rewatching it for the first time in about a year it wasn’t as a glamourous epxerince watching it on 123movies in 720p but the heart of the film still struck me equally. seeing as i don’t take theatre in school anymore and i’m no longer in my acting class the dream has faded again and i think this movie appears in my life to remind me of how much i do love acting. well at least that’s my romantic perception of it. with all of that said i have to say in my selfish opinion la la land is an ode to ME.
