Moonlight
it’s unbelievable that jenkins and co. were able to make this for a million dollars. everything about this film is perfect.
every performance is stunning. the dialogue is perfectly measured yet so natural. it’s flawlessly edited, features one of the most beautiful and memorable color palettes I’ve ever seen, engrossing camera work, britell’s phenomenal score, etc.
the symbolism is so apparent yet not at all overwrought. it’s undeniably and unapologetically queer while also deconstructing masculinity and male vulnerability.
it’s both familiar and innovative. it’s as bold as it is breathtaking. it allows and encourages you to overflow with emotion, but it never takes advantage of said emotion for shock value.
everytime you rewatch moonlight, you’ll uncover more details about both the film and yourself.
