Evil dead 2 takes what was already a silly cheesy horror film concept to a beast that is way way past its limits.
THIS IS NOT A PERFECT MOVIE BY ANY STANDARDS WHATSOEVER!!!!! But I absolutely loved every single second of this movie meaning it cancels out for me and it’s 5 stars. It’s just too goddamn fun for its own good like groovy???? That’s what you say ash evil dead??? GROOVY????? Like cmon how is he not a goat for that.
Anyways yeah this one is just objectively better than the first in my opinion, like ash is potrayed way better like he was spitting some bars and at the start his insanity was really fun to watch and far more entertaining than his “uh oh guys that resident is evil!” I felt like the other characters acc existed sometimes, The horror isn’t even scary anymore it’s so campy and off the rails it becomes even MORE fun that the well made horror in the first one, like cmon the hand shenanigans alone were just so much more entertaining and cool than the entire first movie.
The effects help this a lot they go ALL in on the stop motion seen at the end of evil dead. And it genuinely looks great like especially that end bit with the old woman like that was great stuff. The blood, my god the blood is fucking stupid bro it’s like a cartoonish amount of blood like it’s just a fountain. And then it changes color sometimes as well for no apparent reason. But like that does not matter this movie is too off the rails the changing color doesn’t even like make a dent in my suspension of disbelief.
I think that’s it acc lik my suspension of disbelief was pushed so far in the first 20 minutes it just shattered and all th cool fun shit just stranger pouring into my soul. And like that ending was just glorious bro it was so fun and I cannot WAIT to watch the third one I KNOW it’s about to be fire.
