this film captures both heart and mind from the very first frame and never once loosens its hold. it works as a drama, it works as a musical, a period piece, and at times a comedy as well. it is full of jealousy, ambition, betrayal, duplicity, revenge, guilt, and scheming. i just cannot get over how good this film is. the intensity of everything is almost too much. i have no words. and yes, it is not meant to be a biography of Mozart at all. it is basically a fictional fanfic built on real people and real music, which makes it even more fun. what is not to like about Amadeus? it is truly one of those films you never forget. i feel like i could watch it again and again and the music would still bring every emotion to the surface.
