Holy smokes holy smokes this was epic 🤯. Genuinely so impressed Mr. Coogler this was nuts. Very few parts of the movie lost me and will def go rewatch it soon to either bump this up or down to a 5 or 4. Still great either way. There’s 2 scenes in particular which are nothing short of masterpieces, you’ll know them when you see them. I love how Coogler plays with mythology, history and culture it’s so fun showing those off and playing around with those themes I always love to see that (big reason I love Eggers films). Wish I could see this in a proper film imax theater but only like 5 exist in the world so whatever lol got to see it in regular AMC iMAX. You gotta watch this in imax you’re watching a different movie not in imax especially the way Coogler plays with aspect ratio it’s fantastic. Miles Caton… his first role and he stole the picture for me ngl. Michael B. Jordon and many of the others were all good-great but Miles was easily the stand out for me. A little disappointed with Hailee Steinfields role wish the character did a little bit more. Actually feel that way with many of the other smaller side characters as well, they were all so easy to love but didn’t get much screen time to shine in the film! Wouldn’t have minded if the film was longer to show them off but ofc I understand why it was kept tighter. Ludwig Goransson goes crazy with the score, not surprising. Love the world, messaging, themes etc am excited to see this become a franchise (read somewhere it was planned to make this a franchise?) despite that sounding a little silly. Would go in more detail with a lot of things mentioned in this review but I’ve already typed so much lowkey 🙀
