The Matrix

This is probably the closest movie to what an anime feels like. Its insane how well this movie delivers, especially when you consider that the plot elements are dense. Lonely protagonist, little backstory, discovers he is the main character, had difficult choices to make, tries to change his fate, this is what makes him unique, perfect mirror antagonist, greater cause to fight for, the girl destined for him, the wise master, the old prophet.
