Nosferatu
“We are here encountering the undead plague carrier... the vampyr... Nosferatu.”

I cant find the words to describe how amazing this film is.
The opening sequence alone I could rant about all day.
-
This movie is dark, gritty, and repulsive in the best way. Robert Eggers keeps outdoing himself again and again. I must say he’s one of the best directors we have and one of my personal favorites.
-
The cast is stacked front to back. I was worried about Lily Rose Depp as she has a very modern look to her but she stole this movie, Willem Defoe is a close second. His role as Professor Von Franz reminds me of Anthony Hopkins’ Van Helsing in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Very seriously taken with a glint of humor.
…however Bill Skarsgard deserves all of the praise he’s getting. I feel like people only see him as Pennywise (which is fine he’s fantastic in that role) and don’t see him as the extremely gifted actor he is.
He lowered his voice with the help of an opera singer to give it that deep gravely sound. He filmed scenes where he had to be completely covered in rats for long periods of time.
The makeup transformation took SIX HOURS.
I could go on and on….

Robert Eggers always makes me feel like i’m in the movie. i was completely engulfed in the atmosphere of Nosferatu. the sets and the costumes- perfect in every way.
-
i also love the nods to the 1992 Dracula movie. it’s one of my favorites and this movie encapsulates the same feeling.
-
this is a masterpiece and should be seen as such.

the only thing i found i didn’t like was Count Orlok’s mustache.
