Adolescence
God, this was a genuine experience, such an incredibly thought out portrayal of modern internet culture, the impact it has on impressionable young boys/men, the toxic cultures and continuous degradation of peace and tranquility inside the mind of a child. It’s heartbreaking and heart-wrenching stuff. this series was crafted with so many stories, thoughts, and ideas in mind and it manages to perfectly execute it all without feeling a minute too long, or even stretched out.
The series being entirely shot as a One-Shot (my favorite style of cinematography) was gorgeous to me, even if a lot of the time was spent circling or focusing on certain moments. The whole real-time aspect to these 4 episodes just feels so surreal, you’re here in this moment watching everything unravel with Stephen Graham, who might i add, what a phenomenal performance.
Every episode has its own personal identity that i love. no episode feels like the other in the best of ways, from a slow reveal of crime, to a chaotic hour of running around a school focusing on a multitude of characters flawlessly(my personal favorite), watching a tense therapy session with a deranged and troubled child, and even the aftermath of all this, the concept of raising your child, and how even if you try your best, failure is still possible. Owen Cooper, a newcomer who’s career i see only going up, is absolutely amazing here, genuinely a powerhouse performance that i’m so glad is getting him so much recognition at his age, exciting career for him!
I found one of the last pieces of dialogue so powerful, something that perfectly encapsulated all the ideas and struggles our main parents feel after managing to fail their child even when being pretty good parents. simply put

“how did we make her?…”
“The same way we made him”**
