We Are All Trying Here
On episode 3 rn.
I like the idea of what this show is trying to say, but it’s execution is pretty cringe and bad…
I am personally not a fan of shows/films that try to explain every single point one by one; this is exactly that kind of film. The lengthy monologues feel so artificial, and for that reason I cannot fully resonate with the characters.
In addition to the cringe script, there is this very “Korean” style of editing that feels uncomfortable. The sort of “신파 (Shinpa)” that tries to squeeze out tears but fails to do so exactly because it’s a shinpa.
I’m gonna admit, I do love the dialogues individually. They are beautifully written words, and I think there are every bit of truth to them. But a 100 good ingredients don’t make a good food if there’s no balance. The show fails to connect the amazing words it contains.
But, I will still give this show the benefit of the doubt and continue to watch the remaining episodes. More review to come then.
