Andrei Rublev
"What is praised today is abused tomorrow. They will forget you, me, everything."
What an artistic masterpiece! Had to rewatch some of the scenes to fully understand it's depth.
As I grow old, I think this movie will grow inside my head too, becoming more and more clearer.
The ending did a lot with less material at hand. No dialogue, just a reminder that true art never yields, it flourishes.
Rublev's serene art was an explicit protest against the bloodshed of his era, and his strife againt all the evil in the world. The icons are the timeless, radiant remains of an otherwise brutal existence, brought up on by our fellow brethrens.
