Funny Games
such a masterpiece, ahead of its time even for now.
While i disagree with the argument the movie makes, i can’t deny that it makes it flawlessly and it does make you think. It’s weird to love a movie this much knowing the director himself hates me for it, it’s weird to think about why i love this, and movies like it so much? Because surely it’s not because i like seeing happy endings, i’m always betting for the side of the antagonists, because im the one that put on the movie. The bet is unfair, always rigged for the bad guys!!
So why do i love this? I don’t know. Because it’s cool? Because that remote scene is dope as hell? I surely don’t like watching people suffer, if that was my intention i’d just watch torture porn 24/7. That’s my main issue with the argument, it presupposes that people like me are just the same as those who watch snuff or torture movies. I don’t watch the movies i watch to watch people suffer, i watch them because they have something to say beside that, some point to make. Torture porn does not, you’re just watching someone suffer to watch them suffer, that’s a huge difference.
Or maybe not, maybe i’m just a bit fucked in the head and trying to convince myself i’m not.
Maybe haneke is right.
Either way, i had a dope tuesday night!
