Superman
"I love. I get scared. I wake up every morning in despite not knowing what to do, I put one foot in front of the other and I try to make the best choices I can. I screw up all the time but that is being human."
One of the most vivid memories I had about Superman was my parents joking about me being sent from a Krypton-like planet to earth back when I was 7 or 8 years old. It was such a corny ass thing but I believed it as a kid. And that belief lived on even after I become a teenager. Y'all know how Superman isolates himself in his Fortress of Solitude, even though he had his another persona with several metahuman friends and family. I spent most of my teenage life being in a state of solitude too and that was ok.
Recently, I got even more responsibilities and I kept failing in life. "The persons I loved" leave me in my lowest moments and some destroys me mentally and physically. At the end of the day, I try to be hopeful and assures myself that things are gonna be different next morning. I may always be in trouble myself but still I try to do good deeds. Help the elderly. Help the individuals with disabilities. Help feeding the homeless. Volunteers to help fundraise for those who are in need and for peace. Cheer up the kids who are totally strangers to me when I see them having a bad day. I do those things simply just because I want to and not because I want something back in return in my loser life.
As I grew older, I fell in love with Punk Rock and women who loves Punk Rock too, and you know what? Being kindness in a world that thinks kindness is old-fashioned is as much punk rock as not saluting a single flag in the world whether it is good or bad.
I live through the everyday phenomena of Clark Kent / Superman alongside HIM in this film just like I've been doing my entire life. This specific film of James Gunn is what we need in a such a hopeless time like this. There are wars happening around the world and PEOPLE ARE NOT JUST GOING TO DIE, THEY ARE INDEED DYING. And those who are in authority doesn't do shit other than just to spread their false and selfish agendas around the nation or the world. So all we can do is be hopeful and be like Superman in a world like this because that's the only way as real as he gets.
And lastly, by the time I am writing this review or essay or whatever you want it to be, I am not home. I don't think I can call the place I am at "home". I am not with my family. Not with my parents who once told me I got here on this planet earth just like Superman so when Pa and Ma Kent says "Don't be a stranger" to Clark, it hits home for me. As a true James Gunn supporter since day one, I know this film's official release date is his Pa's Birthday so it's gonna hit home for him too I guess.
So yeah, I could say the inner child inside me left the theatre satisfied...heh.
