Good Time
I fucking love this movie.
First off, the amazing score…it reminds me of like the 80s type crime shows i used to watch all the time which makes sense considering what the Safdie brothers were inspired by. I’m nervous constantly throughout along w the perfectly placed fast paced and/or close up shots. The close ups specifically really make you focus on what the person could be feeling in the moment while simultaneously heightening anxiety; I keep wondering (in fear) what else is happening that we can’t see.
I don’t normally rewatch movies, but this is genuinely so good and there are so many places where you feel surprised and anxious and learn new stuff that it’s like I had never seen this before.
When poor Nick is in the jail I’m just in love with the way they did this it’s so engaging at every moment and you don’t know what’s coming next
Rob Pattinson (😒) and Benny Safdie have absolutely stunning performances in this.
I love their interactions so much.
“You think I could’ve done that without you standing next to me being strong ???”
“..no”
“Wanna hold it ??” “Yeah idc”
The mom from atypical was so insufferable but also funny asl like I was honestly proud…did not expect that from her.
The opening and ending credits are so touching and a nice break from the tenseness throughout the movie also kinda centering the fact that everything Connie did was for his brother. There’s a devastating conflict between Connie’s overwhelming love for his brother and a need to protect him, and his eventual destruction of both of their lives.
Of course love the ny and long island setting. So trippy seeing where I’m from on screen.
The ending is insanely suspenseful and stressful but so was this whole movie.
