Brokeback Mountain
rewatch and ramble 😝;
i think the saddest part is if jack never died, ennis wouldn't have changed. he would’ve never taken the thought of them seriously; and i think the end proves that when we see he tried to send the postcard jack never received. also, i feel it’s obvious that jack was moving on with randall. his father literally talks about it at the end, how eventually he stopped mentioning ennis and the dream of ever living a life with him. that being said, jack would’ve never stopped seeing ennis and i truly believe that !! even if he was fully with a man in the way he always wanted to be, he wouldn’t be content because it wasn’t ennis. i think randall was easy for him because he was similar to ennis but ultimately; he loved ennis and wouldn't have let him go, i think both jack and ennis are selfish in that sense, they hurt countless people, and themselves, for eachother without caring much for the repercussions of their actions.
i think jacks death was the only thing that would’ve ever changed the way ennis perceived their relationship, if jack didn’t die, nothing would’ve changed between them, just mindless talk of their dreams of a life together twice a year and going their separate ways until next time. so ultimately???? jack’s death was the best and worst thing for ennis; he opened up emotionally and was willing to risk everything to be open, but it was at the expense of jack. jacks death was essential for ennis to accept his homosexuality in a way.
“jack, i swear” brokeback mountain my favorite horror movie
