Scream

You're starting to sound like some Wes Carpenter flick or something **This review is basically just me writing a paragraph on my opinion on each of the main characters. (This may or may not be inspired by me talking about Scream pretty much non-stop recently) ** First is Sidney, of course. She is the one true final girl in my heart. The first one I ever loved to be honest. Scream wouldn’t be the franchise it is today without her character. I do feel bad for her though because what do you mean her literal boyfriend decides to not only murder her mother but then try to kill her. Like, you got your revenge on Maureen by killing her, but what was the actual need to try kill Sidney. The thing is, it obviously doesn’t even stop there because people continued to try and kill her after the fact because of the influence of her life story. Poor girl is just trying to live but is being terrorised by a flesh and blood ghost. Tatum. My love, my life. She is one of my top 5 characters from the whole series. I mean, she is so badass, especially in her death scene where she literally GIVES GHOSTFACE HIS NAME. When I say that this film changed me, I truly mean it because I think that her death was the first time I actually full on cried at a film and I haven’t been able to stop since. I understand why she couldn’t be, but there will always be a part of me that wants her as a final girl. If you know anything about me, it is very obvious that Stu is my favourite character. He is the character that made me totally mesmerised by Matthew Lillard’s acting and he is just an overall fantastic character. What is very interesting to me is how they used his position as the group jokester to put him in a very suspicious role. However, despite that, nobody genuinely suspects him because it's just how he always acts. Like, what do you mean this guy just explained how to gut someone the night after his ex and her new boyfriend were murdered and people just think he’s being a little silly. But that is exactly what I love about his character. That and his facial expression. Stu is just a little cutie who is the lapdog for his best friend, who he is gay for. There’s nothing wrong with that. Billy is my favourite Ghostface but my third favourite character. While he may not have been the one to have the original idea to kill Maureen, he is the one who brought Stu into it with him, planned it all and carried it out. Obviously, Stu helped him, but you get my point. He was also an obvious killer too but in more subtle, genre stereotype ways than Stu was. One of the only things about his character that I didn’t enjoy was how most conversations between Billy and Sidney revolved around or led to sex. It just made me feel kind of weird, especially with how happy he was when Sid finally said she was ready. Overall though, I enjoyed Skeet’s performance and this film has caused me to love the Skeet and Matt duo for years now. While Randy may not be at the top of my list in terms of favourite characters in this film, that doesn’t mean I don’t love his character. Like, there wasn’t a single scene that he was in that I didn’t enjoy. He’s just the type of character that you can’t help but smile at. I can’t believe that they killed him off in the second film, I would’ve loved to see him and Sidney as a duo for longer. All I have to say about Dewey is that he is the cutest damn deputy that Woodsboro has ever seen, and they don’t appreciate that man enough. But seriously, what did this man do to deserve being a pin cushion like that. I genuinely start tearing up whenever anything bad happens to that man. Dewey, you will be missed. Finally, Gale. I both love her and love to hate her. Scream 4 onwards is when I fully love her as a character but before that it was very much situational. Like at the start of this film, I very much did not like her. I get she was doing her job but just leave Sidney alone and maybe do it in more of a respectful way. But by the end of it I enjoyed her character. Until she pulled out that damn camera at the end to report, minutes after the police arrived. Like what the fuck.
