Heat
One of the greatest things about this movie is that it gives both sides equally. You are not witnessing only one man trying to arrest another criminal. You are observing two stories being told simultaneously, stories revolving around each other, stories full of identical emptiness. Neil and Vincent are not opponents in this story; rather, they share similar qualities. Both geniuses, both troubled individuals and both trapped in what seems impossible to break free from.
What makes this movie great is Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. They simply bring a whole new level of acting. Nothing is done in excess, everything is portrayed perfectly. The way they act, the way they talk, it feels as if there was no difference between them and their characters. (the best duo)
and underneath all of it, there is a feeling of melancholic loss. The movie is concise and to the point without wasting any time. All you know when you’re done watching is that it hit a nerve with you.
heat manages its tension like a master. a story where everyone is a human being, making decisions with consequences and silence that says more than gunfire.
