Interstellar
"it was you, you were my ghost."
i think i was crying for most of the time, and when i wasn't, i was holding my breath (hans! it's your fault).
i haven't seen all of nolan, but this is my favorite of his by a long mile. as far as i got with his filmography, i've never resonated very deeply with any of it. i generally love everything space and was immediately on board with this purely for that, but i didn't expect it to hit me on such an emotional level (←me when the movie has a father-daughter storyline). this was fantastic as a sci-fi movie, yes, but there's a real poetic, emotional thread that ties everything together. romanticism, the indomitable human spirit or whatever you might wanna call it, it matters a lot to me in movies like this, and interstellar delivered that in spades. amazing stuff, undoubtedly a masterpiece.
