Primer
I sat with this movie for a little while yesterday and came up with a theory and then did some research to see if my theory was correct, and I was kind of right! Then this morning I watched the Director's Commentary (linked below because Letterboxd isn't letting me hyperlink it), and between all of that and reading more about Shane Carruth, I have a lot more respect and appreciation for this film, and for Carruth himself.
I'm going to rewatch it properly tonight and maybe even find the Crew Commentary that Shane mentions in his own commentary. I still think there's a lot in this movie that isn't great, but it's also nice to know that it all has a purpose even if not executed perfectly. I respect Shane and his dedication to his story and craft. Also for making this story grounded in reality (the science fiction is barely science fiction), and for making it efficient as fuck! Both in the film itself and the making of the film, which is detailed in the Director's Commentary. Shane Carruth is a true genius and auteur and I'm excited to see everything he's made. In fact, I just ordered Upstream Color on blu ray and I'm excited!

Edit:
In searching for the Crew Commentary (which must be only on the dvd) I found the entire movie for free on YouTube. Do with that what you will
