Brazil
Masterpiece truly
Watching gilliams cut for the first time and it did not disappoint, the subtle differences make the movie really all that better
In 2026, i feel like this movie resonates now more than ever, especially in america, it aged incredibly well
As much as sam lowry is a problematic main character, i genuinely feel for the dude, lost in a bullshit bureaucratic system, dreaming about a beautiful woman, and being an overall klutz
The symbolism in this movie runs deep, making it very good to rewatch and think about
The romantic and comical aspects of the film blend amazingly well with the horrifying elements
His use of juxtaposition is genius especially with ary barrosos’s jolly tune brazil playing throughout the movie, cant get enough of that song
And of course i cannot write this review without mentioning the insane cinematography and set design
Movie is so beautiful and bittersweet it made me cry, not entirely sure why but it did
That ending is one of my favorites of all time, definitely a mindfuck and i love it
