Dekalog
oh, I just finished it, and I am impressed by how all the stories intertwine and convey a common message, even though they touch on different existential themes. > *even though the title "Dekalog" specifically denotes 10 religious commandments, and each episode delves into the concept of one of them from a unique perspective, I believe that through the lens of religion, Krzysztof is more focused on the complexities of human nature and the ongoing ethical challenges that society encounters. for example, episode 5, which happens to be my favorite. an ambiguous and ironic approach is used to explore the commandment 'you shall not murder'. the total sanctity of human life is implied by this moral imperative. repeating this murder as punishment is also contrary to the commandment, isn't it? the final hanging scene probably will be in my head for a long time, it was so devastating. > the director discusses the futility of forcing oneself to live inside specific bounds. how ease people make mistakes, and how thin the line is between actions for the good and what is considered a mortal sin. already want to rewatch this and find more interesting details for myself *
