Training Day

90 This movie is incredible. This movie is instantly captivating it will grab your attention and keep it. It opens perfectly and it feels like every second we are learning something new about our main characters.  How could anyone not love Alonso. He’s hilarious and cool af, expertly portrayed by Denzel. I could watch this character for hours and if the film was just him doing random stuff for hours I’d probably still love it.  The moral spine throughout is just done so well. At no point is it cheesy or cringe and genuinely has me thinking how I’d respond in these situations. It doesn’t distract from the humour and chaos of the film just adds and adds until a climax. The directorial choices I loved from the POV shots of being high to those close shots throughout, it’s all great.  It has that 90s feel (despite being from 2001) but is so much more than a 90s cop movie.  Love it
