I’ve never had a movie slow burn grief like this to me. Watching this made me feel like I was mourning an actual person in real time. The pain watching this felt so raw like an open wound.
I ultimately felt like the first half of the movie which explored masculinity and the tenderness of boyhood was more compelling and wish there was more it. It would’ve been nice to explore Leo’s relationship with Remi more before delving into the second half dealing with Leo’s grief. I felt like the second half was too long however I can appreciate the pain of stillness being depicted throughout this arc.
