La Chimera
The choices this movie makes are so fascinating. Watching this felt like a hazy fever dream from a midday nap. It’s somehow simultaneously devoid of whimsy yet also quite absurdist. A surprisingly immersive experience that you forgive how boring it can be sometimes.
Almost every character is half-baked, their names and faces interchangeable with each other, but for some reason I don’t mind it in this film and can be argued that it enhances the dream-like state this movie puts you in. Finishing this movie puts you in the same dazed and confused state as waking up from a nap. It’s simultaneously a disorienting, morose yet mystifying and hypnotic experience. I will say though that this movie feels a touch too long.
Above anything this film is gorgeous and I’m reminded of how talented Josh o’ Connor is. This definitely deserves a rewatch for me to fully comprehend.
