Oppenheimer
“Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. For this he was chained to a rock and tortured for eternity.“There have only been a select handful of films released within my lifetime I can say this about, but if there was ever a movie in Nolan’s filmography that I feel like he was truly put on this earth to create it is this one. No one else on the planet is as uniquely suited to create this sprawling cautionary historical epic on this scale while simultaneously making it one of the most gripping films of the decade so far. When everything is said and done I don’t know how this won’t be considered Nolan’s magnum opus. Like how does he top this? It really feels like every film he’s put out before this has led up to this moment. His craft has never been this refined, layered, and to a certain extent fearless. With Oppenheimer he has mastered the craft he has spent his whole career sharpening.
