There Will Be Blood
from the very first moments of silence and isolation, pta sets the stage for something massive, and it never lets go. daniel day-lewis delivers a performance that feels like a possession. his daniel plainview is terrifying, magnetic, and impossible to look away from. every scene feels heavy, charged, like it’s building toward something inevitable.
pta’s direction is so precise yet sprawling, capturing both the intimate brutality of human greed and the vast emptiness of the american landscape. jonny greenwood’s score adds to that sense of dread and beauty, crawling under your skin until it feels inseparable from the images. it’s a film about ambition, obsession, power, and loneliness, but it’s told with such raw intensity that it transcends its own story.
by the end, i felt drained, shaken, but also in awe. few films manage to feel this monumental while still being so tightly controlled. this film isn’t just one of pta’s greatest, it’s one of the greatest, period.
