Over the Garden Wall
This feels like a warm hug.
It had the same charm and enchantment as when I first watched it when I was younger.
The art style greatly complements the established world with its beauty.
I absolutely love the world this show was able to create. I feel like it uses the imagination, curiosity and ability of interpretation for the unknown just as a kid does; that's why it resonates with me and so many others.
Each episode dug deeper into the world and story it created and added more to the existing characters.
Some of these single-episode stories weren't fully finished or used further in the show, and that's why I adore the ending so much. It gives you a short but joyful montage of all these stories and characters that appeared earlier.
I also like how the Beast is used as the villain here. He works mysteriously and in the background, but when you're nearing the end, it clicks. You realize all the big, bad, as well as small and good events that happen for Wirt and Greg in the garden are because of the Beast.
In the end, the Beast is hilariously defeated by common sense.
And I noticed that the short, almost unserious ending scenes in the ambulance reminded me of Clarence.
So low and behold, I recently learned that, canonically, the two shows are indeed in the same universe.
Very few shows or movies can make me feel this sort of nostalgia and sense that I'm a kid again. And when I think about it, I notice that all of them are from the same time period. I mean: Adventure Time, Gumball, Regular Show, Clarence, Steven Universe, We Bare Bears and Over the Garden Wall. The cartoon channels were amazing back then.
And I also heard the comparison with Dante's Inferno, and it's honestly spot on.
