Incredibly gripping class-conscious crime thriller. Some of the most breathtaking cinematography I've ever seen. Asakazu Nakai and Takao Saitō are masters. Also by far the best blocking ever put to screen. You can tell every movement was thought out meticulously and every actor knew their marks. Even when you can see obvious hitches in the camera movement it looks fantastic! THE PINK SMOKE!!! The main source material for Spike Lee's 2025 joint, and #6 on my Highest 2 Lowest watchlist. Spike's my GOAT, but I'm not sure how he'll live up to this film. One more film to go before watching his remake (I know, I'm like a week late) - it's finally time to rewatch my all-time favourite film Malcolm X on 4K Blu-ray.
