Mr. McMahon
*You know nothing about the wrestling business, don't ya? There's nobody to go to, son. You either take it, or you're going home. Who are you going to complain to?*
Mr. McMahon is a documentary that found itself in a weird situation when its very subject was ousted from the WWE after 30 years due to heinous sexual assault and abuse allegations.
As a lifelong wrestling fan, the doc doesn't necessarily give me any new information. A lot of the documentary is about the WWE under Vince's regime, how it became a worldwide sensation, etc. etc.. Apparently, the series was initially intended to be a sort of puff piece. Something along the lines of "jeez, this guy is crazy, but it's cool because we him our childhoods!". Instead it takes a much darker turn, likely due to the horrific allegations levied at McMahon.
This docuseries is just okay. It obviously isn't the Vince puff piece it was intended to be, but it isn't the most scathing critique of his character. It also doesn't really seem to promote the "new" WWE, which a lot of people thought would be the case due to Netflix's lucrative broadcast deal with the company (which they actually mention in the last episode). It doesn't even really portray Triple H/Paul Levesque, the current head of Creative in a very positive light. Ultimately, it's an interesting watch.
