Paprika
On a bit of hiatus from continuing to write my current script I wanted to turn to some films to garner some inspiration on how I could end mine. I decided to watch Satoshi Kon’s Paprika, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The vibrant animation and score had me hooked from the very beginning, and I went back to watch the opening credits sequence twice after finishing it. Usually when it comes to foreign films I tend to watch them with subtitles, but I’m glad I picked the dubbed version because I wouldn’t have been able to see all these beautiful visuals without having to glance down. I can totally see why Christopher Nolan saw this and wanted to make an incredibly similar movie, because it’s just that great. We need more stuff like this today, crazy acid-trip visuals tied with amazing score and great animation. This was my first Satoshi Kon film and I can’t wait to keep looking into his work.
