Disclosure Day
Somehow feels empty and full of love at the same time.
I slept on this one and still don’t know how to feel about the falling dominos that are the entire movie, a kinetic narrative that only slows down to pull you close and ask you: “What if?”
Spielberg is still his usual blockbuster magician self, Kaminski’s weaving camera work supported by a leading cast of mainly British actors playing Americans, and a John Williams score that dragged me back to my childhood through nostalgic melodies. So what’s the problem?
I might just be a cynic but my suspension of disbelief started dissipating by the final third through “reveals” and odd emotional resolutions, and up until that point I was intensely engaged. Thematically it’s a mixed bag, the concepts here just don’t mesh entirely; I wanna reconcile my feelings and despite this probably needing another watch, I don’t even know if I want to. Wish I felt more moved.
Completely baffling.
