Memento
• While I was watching the film, I was really fucking confused. But now, that I finished watching it. I’m realizing how much of a genius Christopher Nolan is for putting the events in reverse order. That way the audience feels like we’re in Leonard’s shoes. I have a feeling that someone probably already said this before on a review here or on a video essay. (But I just had to share my thoughts)
• I really like the two timelines (the black and white timeline and the color timeline). Like, the black and white timeline happens forward chronologically and the color timeline happens backwards chronologically. That’s just one of the many details I liked about the film.
•Don’t even get me started on the ending. When Leonard said “where was i.” Which means that Leonard doesn’t remember what happened previously and as we saw in the beginning, Leonard killed teddy. (Making teddy one of his ‘John G’s.’)
• Also, that split second scene of Sammy in the chair at the institution, later turning into Leonard in that chair. That foreshadows the twist of Sammy’s story actually being Leonards.
Thats most of my thoughts on the film. This was probably my first review that was more ranty and isn’t just a one liner.
