Sharp Objects
boyfriend and i finished this in 2 nights. both of us were absolutely S T U N N E D. we were also disappointed to find out how snubbed this was during awards season at the time. if miniseries were considered at the oscars, i could see amy adams and patricia clarkson sweeping. amy gave the performance of a lifetime. she played haunted so well that it genuinely scared me. trauma always comes back to haunt you.
while the story was a tad predictable, the way it played out was, for lack of a better word, epic. every little thing throughout is a key detail, a tiny piece in this fucked up puzzle. i felt like charlie on always sunny trying to piece everything together to fit whatever narrative i was running with at the time. seriously, every ~15 minutes, what you think/believe happened changes, sometimes in extreme twists. this kind of mystery is my favorite, never quite knowing what's happening and being thrown for a loop time after time.
this is definitely a series that you will have to watch over and over again to truly see every detail. i recommend to, at any point in any episode, stop where you are, rewind, and rewatch. look in the background, look at signs around the town, look at camille, study EVERYTHING. you will always find something more.
