Wicked
To me this feels like a movie about that dizzy, electric beginning of a friendship the kind that sneaks up on you and quietly changes who you are. It nails that rush of finding “your person”, someone who makes you braver, sharper, softer all at once. But under all the big musical numbers and sparkling sets it’s also about realising the world is actually pretty unjust, that a lot of things are rigged and sometimes being good and being brave just isn’t enough to fix it.
What got me the most is that it doesn’t pretend love or friendship magically fix these injustices. Bad things still happen, some of them you just have to live with. But there’s this quiet kind of magic in who you choose to stand next to when things are fucked, the people who call you to be better, who you still choose to be kind and brave with even when you know it might not change the outcome. It made me want to message my favourite people and say that you make me better and that doesn’t fix the whole world but it really, really matters.
