Sunset Boulevard

this movie is so captivating and well-crafted! the writing is EXCELLENT. the dialogue is quick and snappy. joe’s narration guides the story without ever revealing too much. the pacing is perfect, subtly building tension the whole time, with a CRAZY final act. this story just pulls you in!!  each character is complex and layered — wrestling with choices and struggling with their emotions. norma and joe’s dynamic is so interesting… every scene between them is filled with tension and you never know how it’s going to end.  the way gloria swanson is able to inspire fear, awe, disgust, and pity as norma desmond is mind blowing. the emotion she’s able to express is crazy and she commands every! single! scene!! they should really make this into a musical 🤔
