GoodFellas
In 1990 Martin Scorsese made a movie based on American mobster Henry Hill, Goodfellas, and it turns out to be one of the best movies of all time. I absolutely adore this movie, everything about it is so perfect. I want to start off with the pacing. The pacing is absolutely incredible in this movie, they managed to get 3 decades worth of Hill's life into 2 and a half hours is amazing. Every scene feels necessary and it keeps you intrigued throughout. I love the cinematography in this movie, the scenes look beautiful, how the scenes are filmed is amazing, it's just all so perfect. I absolutely adore the story, I love going through Henry's life, it's so interesting and there is so much heartbreak and victories, it succeeds at driving all the emotion out of the audience. I loved how it ended, it was so cool to see Henry go from this untouchable boss to this normal guy. I loved how you can visibly see Henry deteriorate throughout the movie, it's just so cool. I loved how the movie made you really care about the characters. I cared about Henry, Karen, Tommy, Jimmy, etc. and I loved seeing them evolve throughout the movie. Not only did I love seeing Henry's visible arc throughout the movie but Paulie and Jimmy were two others that had a great visible arc. Paulie went from being the boss of everything to a diner chef and Jimmy went from the most feared man in the community to a regular old guy with classes, it just amazes me. I loved the acting in this movie it is absolutely amazing, I truly feel transported when I watch this movie, like I was there in the moment. I loved how the movie is treated like a documentary with Henry telling the story and I absolutely loved Karen's additions as well. Overall, I just love everything about this movie , it's truly one of a kind.
