The Imitation Game
To all the people who gave this a low rating:
First of all, this isn't a documentary it's a movie so of course the events were dramatized. Yes, the movie made it seem like he worked alone at the first bit but it didn't deny the fact that every other team member contributed as well and they made it happen together, all of them. Also a movie needs a conflict, so i understand that they had to make one of the team members an asshole but he also got redemption, and that doesn't mean alan was portrayed as a perfect angel, they showed he was also an asshole to the people around him at times. Second of all, the relationship between alan and joan was not romanticized AT ALL, are people watching with their asses? They became good friends and they cared for each other, the portrayal of their friendship i think was beautiful. Third, this is a movie about war and the enigma, of course the fact that he is gay wasn't given more depth, if they wanted to watch a man's struggle of being gay in the 50s they should have watched a different movie, if the fact that he was gay wasn't mentioned at all in the movie that would've been problematic but really i think that storyline was told appropriately, and it was enough. And don't get me started on the fact that some people thought that Alan was portrayed as stereotypically socially awkward genius? You know who is a stereotypically socially awkard genius? Sheldon, from the big bang theory. Alan had so much depth as a character.
