The Wind Rises
**About as good as a character piece can be
**
This is filled with all the Ghibli-isms you could think off: delicious looking food, great animation, the unique style and a heartfelt story.
The film itself is about chasing your dreams and achieving them, finding love and much more.
Since it spans almost the entire youth of the main character there is much to tell here, so much that I would’ve liked this to be even longer, even if it’s one of the longer Ghibli Movies.
I was immediately captivated by the Main Character, who is loosely based of a real Japanese engineer. That’s probably also why this feels more grounded and less fantastical then most other Ghibli movies, which isn’t a negative point for me, since I quite like it.
If I had to complain about one thing it would be that the romance aspect seemed a bit rushed and could’ve been fleshed out a bit more; but even like it is now I still think it’s beautifully bittersweet and I was captivated by it.
I have to say that so far this may be my favorite Ghibli film after Princess Mononoke which definitely is a huge thing.
