Aftersun

Deep.  Don’t watch this movie if you’re not emotionally mature or intelligent.  Important to understand and keep in mind while watching that it’s not about the plot or lack thereof.  Aftersun is best watched as a memory, not a mystery.  There isn’t really a traditional plot to follow, nor is there a big reveal waiting at the end. The point isn’t to figure out what’s happening, but to pay attention to what’s being felt. Like a real memory, the meaning emerges gradually through fleeting conversations, glances, and details that only become significant in hindsight. The more you stop looking for a story and start observing the emotions beneath the surface, the more powerful the film becomes.
