Knives Out
One of my favorites. I think it has one of the most consistently fun and engaging scripts of the last decade and despite being a whodunnit it manages to be infinitely rewatchable. The characters are so vivid and well drawn. The filmmaking is so kinetic and well edited from the hilarious cutting of the interviews to the way the final 20 minutes feel like a grand sweeping conclusion despite mainly just being people talking in a room. I think what really pushes this into my favorites and what separates it from glass onion (which also great but not as great as this) is that it has this incredible heart to it from Harlan’s true selflessness to the purity of Marta as our protagonist. The movie has this element of tragedy to it that makes its conclusion hit so much harder. A movie I will watch forever and I can’t wait for the third installment and to hear Daniel Craig do that drawl yet again.
