Interstellar
Never in my life would I imagine to see Interstellar in a theater, let alone an IMAX theater. Even with taking out the IMAX feature, this film is beyond what I thought a film could possibly do and accomplish.
Nolan doesn’t stop just at the captivating story, he turns everything into captivating action, creating this Megazord of just pure film. Wide shots, close ups and everything in between (especially those shots attached to the ranger) are just the most eye-alluring images imaginable. The sound design stays true to space and the harsh realism of how loud a rocket can be. Everything space and visual effects and are done right graceful and stunning. As said before but tons of people, it really makes you feel like you are in space. No film has not been as successful as Interstellar for this feeling.
McConaughey delivers one of his greatest performances and continues to be even better. The same can be said for Chastain and Hathaway. They bring haste and intensity to collaborate with the story and never falter on the characters. Micheal Caine is Micheal Caine, what else can be said?
Finally, Zimmer. He creates the most essential soundtrack and wide vastness of space all through something we can’t physically see, music. Zimmer embodies an astronaut, first looking up to the stars to then reaching out and flying through new planets and the unknown. He brings beauty and brings intensity it needs to keep moving the narrative. Even though this is my second viewing, the docking scene was as breathtaking and intense as the first time I saw it. Nothing could ever beat the feeling of watching a man trying to merge a space ship with a space station.
This has been by far the greatest theater experience of my life, and am glad to be part of this 10th anniversary celebration of film.
