Single best script in cinema imo, and some of the best cinematography and music you will ever experience in a film. Closest thing I’ve ever seen to perfection.
I like romance plus this films ending hit me harder then any singular ending in any other film.
His most “artistic” film in terms of editing and cinematography. This can turn some people away, but imo it’s the defining PCW film that pushed him to become the director he is now.
A film the makes you question what a good father is. Also has socioeconomic critiques of the workforce, Korean society, AI, and pride in the sense of reclaiming dignity.
PCWs rawest film that is unapologetically violent and heartbreaking. Definitely a harder watch, but one I can appreciate for its portrayal of normal people being sucked into a cycle of revenge.
His most operatic film, which to me is at its detriment. It’s a masterpiece, but not one I’d watch over many of his other films.
It’s gorgeous, but I just could not connect with it at all. If I connected with the story then this easily could’ve been a step below Lady Vengeance with how good the cinematography is.
This is a movie you need to watch in the mindset of having fun and not thinking of it as a Park Chan-wook film or you might be disappointed. It’s messy but has its moments.
