Django Unchained
“You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention”
Now there could be some slight bias in this review due to the factor Django:Unchained is one of my favourite films of all time but I will try to refrain from it as much as I can.
Taking a look at the cast presented in this film its no surprise that one of the standout factors that makes this film a top, top action film is the performances. Christoph Waltz, Jamie Foxx and Kerry Washington all give remarkably memorable performances that in my opinion are debatable their finest if not close to it and the chemistry between those 3 and a fella I will mention soon enough is absolutely fantastic. The dialogue flows so easily and has more than a number of quotable moments and Christoph Waltz is a poet in the way he speaks and acts. Now, Leonardo. Di. Caprio. I honestly think this is top 3 performances from that man and he puts together a villain in Calvin Candy who you can despise from near enough his introduction and to me thats a sign of great antagonist. Honourable mention to Samuel L. Jackson of course so being his usual legendary self and also to a rather odd cameo from Tarantino himself which isn’t uncommon but is maybe just maybe unnecessary.
Furthermore, what sticks Django out from the rest of the action genre has got to be the soundtrack. The entire film features a fantastic collection of music that accompanies the film in such a way you can feel the emotion and glory of Django throughout. Now, the action is certainly not for everyone and is absolutely over the top and can draw you out especially those with weaker stomachs but after all that’s Tarantino’s style and personally I enjoy it but I can 100% see why some may not and that is more than reasonable.
Overall: 9.2/10
