Nightcrawler

Perhaps one of my most visceral viewings. Fucking gnarly man. That’s all on top of the film being tremendously executed and performed. Being a journalism major, this film absolutely rocked me. Fuck journalists man. Here’s a film of absolute villainy. A brutally grotesque depiction of much of broadcast journalism in the most justified sense.  I actually screamed out in anguish when Lou moves the body at the car crash to fit his framing. So much of what I’ve been internalizing during my study of documentary filmmaking just potently on display in that one moment.  I also have to talk about one of the most truly revolting scenes I’ve ever witnessed: The image of Lou and Nina, seductively practicing their business framed around the image of the dying face of his sacrificed partner. Fucking hell.  This movie was amazing.
