Backrooms
𓏴 ࣪ story & plot 🎬 ⠀⠀
I didn't really know what to expect when watching this movie, but this was not it. And I don't even mean that in a bad way. I just thought about more of a visual experience than a full blown backstory of two characters. I enjoyed that they didn't make it a horror movie, but a psychological one instead. The ending is frustrating me, but that's purely because I hate open endings and not because it was a bad one.
♰⠀ 𓈒 ⠀ cinematography & visuals ✙
the eerieness could be felt throughout the entire movie. The desimg made me feel nostalgic and safe yet on edge and unsure at the same time. The little details and visual effects are interesting! I don't get the hate on captain Clark. I think he was terrifying.
( 🍿 ) —— sounds & music
I have mixed feelings about this one. A part of me wishes they would have used more of the stereotypical songs that the backrooms are known for, but the sounds were eerie, so I can't complain.
࣪ ۫𓂅 directing & pacing . ⟢
I am so confused on most of the story and what it all means, but that is just the backrooms. The whole 'describe a dog to someone who never saw one before' really matches this whole entire movie.
᠃ ᠌acting 📽 casting 𓍢 ::
the slow drive into madness and the fear was portrayed so beautifully. Every emotion they felt, I felt as well. The acting really pulled me into the movie.
[ ▶︎ ] extra ノ overall ranking ↻
I really hope we get more ambient backroom movies that focus more on atmosphere than backstories and lore. Especially the 10 original levels are the ones that I want covered.
★ · 🎟️ summary ⛶
I felt so confused and drained after the movie. The jumpscares didn't really impact me, but as I said, not a horror movie in the sense of spooky, but in the sense of it messes with your brain. All the hate is dramatic and overdoing it.
