Looking for Alaska
I really liked John Green's “Looking for Alaska”. I didn't know anything beforehand except that it's a popular book and somehow a love story. Less love than I thought, more philosophy of life and suffering. Partly a story of teenagers playing pranks at boarding school and secretly smoking, but also the different perspectives of religion on life after death. The main character loves last words from deceased personalities and you get to hear a few of them. From the second third onwards, I wondered why the book went on for so long, because I thought the story was actually relatively over, but it was very good and without the last third it would have been a completely different story.
