Undoubtedly the best show of all time. Season 8 sucked. Season 9 was perfect. So good. Mmmmmm hmmmmm.

The plot of this is soooo good and it’s such a shame its visual style and storytelling works against it so relentlessly. Nuanced but so ugly. If this film was just a little more considerate towards its aesthetic, it would have thrived. I completely blame Netflix for this btw. Aside from that, it’s actually pretty sleek and polished. The whole main central idea thing is really smart and I haven’t seen it being done before. I’m really glad i watched this honestly-if not for the main plot point, which was ingenious, then just for the sheer pacing and unpredictability.

This film is truly perfect. Oh Dae-Su is such a gravitational and atrocious character with a character arc that’s just so cool and repulsive. Even the score alone is tailored to this particular aesthetic so well it’s disconcerting. The visuals in particular are what makes this so special. It’s composed in a way that makes it so attractive and flowing but harsh and urghhhh. No words can fully encapsulate the masterclass of old boy. Old boy is perfect in every which way. It is flawless, devastating and everything a story should strive to be. Any human who has not seen old boy is incomplete.
