A Clockwork Orange
so much i missed during first viewing. the ending was fantastic: alex is left with the thoughts of violence and sex that once plagued him, but is now impotent and incapable of acting upon anything. kubrick seems to make meta commentary on films’ ability to change human behavior. ultimately, we become over saturated and left with the images of horror.
i also noticed some “bastardization” of biblical stories: namely Alex having christ like imagery as part of his costume (i.e., the blood on the wrist symbolizing the crucifixion), a potential parable of the lost son with Mr. Alexander (will this boy be forgiven for his transgressions?).
one of my favs.
