there’s a cate blanchett performance in this thing that has actually blown my mind entirely and it earned her ONE of TWO oscar nominations she received that year. todd haynes has a real talent for capturing the feel and the experience of things in a way that is completely opposed to traditional story structure and narrative, for better or for worse. its a vibes-based approach. it really works for me.
