A Clockwork Orange

Truly a disturbing piece of film. This probably warrants another watch but I’m going to need a minute. To begin, the writing is unbelievably well done and so meticulous. The cockney slang and the ongoing gags of the film are exceptionally worked in the film. The acting is of course great and the camera work is superb. The famous shot where Alex is strapped to the chair being tortured is so well done. There was a definitely some nudity and some would say an unneeded amount. This was such a great commentary on the governmental control and power from making Alex into a helpless “sheep” (as he would say) then him being cured, and then turning right back into a sheep is astounding. It is pretty difficult to connect with the film in some way because the characters are pretty one dimensional but at the same time, this was extremely ahead of its time. A disturbing watch and probably a bit too heavy on the unneeded sex and violence. Overall, a classic film that achieves what it set out to do. Free will is the basis of humanity and the film conveys that in a very unique way.
