Anyone that knows sports remembers this scandal. It’s probably one of the wilder high school sports scandals in American history. And this documentary is more than you could imagine. Roy Johnson, a now renowned sociopath, is such a disgrace, an idiot, and somehow a crooked genius on how he pulled off this con. How nobody ever stopped him is more shocking than his ethics, or lack thereof. The conditions he had these kids- who he intentionally scouted out of bad homes and awful conditions- would have any parent livid. Or person. Doesn’t matter. And having kids play 2 games in 3 days is one of the most unsafe things I’ve ever heard. But the scandal runs so much deeper than that. To a point where it keeps getting worse and worse and you’re speechless. The finances, the lying, the manipulating. It never stopped- even during the interview Roy is lying, walking it back and then lying again. It is the behavior of a delinquent. Sports fan or not, this is worth watching for so many reasons.
